Individual and Semi-Private Taiji Instruction
What is Taiji and How is it Beneficial for your Health?
Taiji is both a martial arts practice and a therapeutic tool for healing the body, moving areas of blockage and stagnation, and increasing your body awareness. In the private Taiji lessons, we will focus more on the therapeutic aspects of Taiji and will do exercises to help you (1) gain awareness of your body in time and space, (2) inner connect your body to move as one unit, (3) open areas of blockage and stagnation to increase your freedom of movement and flexibility, and (4) enhance your experience of your own inner vitality. The instruction will include a combination of standing meditation, Qigong exercises, and/or Taiji form practice, and will be based upon (1) your Taiji goals, (2) your motivation behind starting a Taiji practice, and (3) the needs of your body in relation to your postural and movement patterns.
Taiji Instruction: I offer 30 minute ($30/session) or 60 minute ($60/session) Taiji lessons by appointment. Lessons can be done privately or as a small group of up to 3 people with costs split equally among the participants.
Who would benefit: These lessons can be done in conjunction with a Taiji class with my teacher, Master Pikshan Ko (in Beaverton), or as a stand alone practice. The lessons are a great way to introduce yourself to Taiji and/or receive focused attention and feedback that supports you to develop your own personalized Taiji practice for the benefit of your health and mental well being.
Location: Taiji lessons can be scheduled to meet at Columbia Park near The North Portland Growth Place or Laurelhurst Park near The Everett House Healing Center. For those who prefer an inside venue, we can meet at The North Portland Growth Place.
